Update on Pacific Reentry Career Services
We have made the difficult decision to close our doors. When we first conceived of the idea for Pacific Reentry Career Services (PRCS) in 2015, we wanted to find a way to build a bridge between the reentry and business communities in order to open up career opportunities to the formerly incarcerated. This work allowed me to connect with so many amazing currently and formerly incarcerated individuals, activists, advocates, nonprofit organizations and business leaders committed to fair chance hiring and supporting second chances. PRCS was a success in that way.
PRCS has always been a labor of love that I kept going in my free time while I was working a full time job in human resources, and this has been a monumental task. I spent quite a bit of time figuring out if this was still the most effective way for me to be involved in advocacy work for the currently and formerly incarcerated. After thinking it through and talking to some trusted friends and partners in the reentry community, I made the decision to close PRCS because I just couldn’t give the organization the attention it needed.
This is not the end of my journey when it comes to this work. I have made the commitment to support other organizations working in this space. So I will still be active in doing this work without the burden of trying to run a nonprofit in my free time. I look forward to what the future holds as I work alongside an amazing community of people dedicated to ending mass incarceration and making lives better for everyone. This work has connected me to some remarkable people, and for that I am eternally grateful.
If you are looking for organizations to support, please join me in supporting the California Coalition for Women Prisoners and H.I.R.E., two organizations I will continue to work with.
I want to thank everyone who has supported Pacific Reentry Career Services and me in this journey, and I look forward to what the future holds.
